Terms of Service

Last updated: October 4, 2026 · Record.so is in beta.

1. The service

Record.so lets you record your screen and camera, host those recordings, and share them by link. The service is currently in beta: features may change, and Pro features are temporarily free for all members.

2. Accounts

You can record without an account (anonymous share links stop working after 24 hours; signing up later can bring those recordings into your account). An account requires a valid email address; you're responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping your password safe. You must be legally able to enter this agreement in your jurisdiction.

3. Your content

Your recordings are yours. We claim no ownership. You grant us only the technical license needed to store, process and deliver your recordings to the people you share them with. You're responsible for having the right to record and share whatever appears in your recordings, including other people's voices, screens and personal data.

4. Retention and deletion

Anonymous recordings made without an account are deleted after 24 hours. On the Free plan, videos are kept for 60 days; after that the share link stops working and the video is archived, visible only to you. Archived content is deleted 30 days later unless you upgrade. On paid plans videos are kept for as long as you are subscribed. A Team workspace can also set its own retention policy.

When you delete a recording, it goes to the trash. Items in the trash can be restored for 30 days and still count toward your storage; after 30 days, or when you empty the trash, they are deleted for good: the video file, its poster, comments and reactions are removed and cannot be recovered.

If a Free account has no activity for 6 months, its content is deleted. We email you at month 5 and again 7 days before. The account itself is kept.

5. Acceptable use

You may not use Record.so to:

  • record or share content that is illegal where you or your viewers are;
  • infringe others' intellectual property or privacy;
  • distribute malware, phishing or spam (including via workspace invites);
  • harass, exploit or harm anyone, especially minors;
  • probe, overload or disrupt the service.

We may remove content or suspend accounts that break these rules.

Recordings, recording length, team members, viewers and video requests are unlimited; the only plan limit is the storage your plan states. Our Fair Use Policy covers misuse only: using Record.so as a broadcast platform or CDN, several Free accounts for one person or organization, spam and bulk automation, and automation outside the product. For good-faith overuse we contact you first and look for a solution within 14 days; for spam, fake accounts or clear abuse we may restrict the account without notice.

6. Plans and billing

Free, Solo and Team are described on the pricing page. Plans differ by storage and by team features. Free includes 5 GB, Solo 100 GB and Team 200 GB; on Team the storage is shared by every workspace of the account, with no limit on members or workspaces. Solo and Team can add storage in units of 100 GB, billed with the plan.

Storage

When an account's storage is full, new recordings and uploads are paused. Content already stored keeps playing and its links keep working. We warn you at 80% and 95% of your storage. Items in the trash count toward storage until they are deleted.

Who you buy from

Paid plans are sold through Link, Stripe's checkout, which acts as the seller of record for the payment. Link takes the payment, calculates and pays any sales tax, VAT or GST, and sends your receipts and invoices. Your card statement shows LINK.COM followed by Record.so. The service itself is provided by Record.so under these terms, and you can manage your card and billing address on link.com.

Prices and tax

Prices are set in US dollars. The checkout may show and charge the price in your local currency at the exchange rate shown there, or let you pay in US dollars. Tax is added where it applies and is shown before you pay. Business customers can enter a tax ID at checkout.

Subscriptions and renewal

Paid plans are billed in advance, monthly or yearly. A subscription renews automatically at the end of each period, at the price in effect then, until you cancel. By subscribing you authorize Link to charge your payment method for each renewal. We never see or store your full card number. If a price goes up, you are told at least 30 days before your next renewal at the new price.

Failed payments

If a renewal cannot be charged, you are emailed and the payment is retried over the following days. If it is still unpaid after 14 days, the paid plan ends and the account moves to Free.

Changing plans

Moving to a higher plan, adding storage or moving to a longer period takes effect immediately; the difference for the rest of the current period is charged at once. Moving to a lower plan, removing storage or moving to a shorter period also takes effect immediately, and the unused amount is kept as credit for your next invoices. Moving from Team to Solo requires one person and one workspace. Storage cannot be lowered below what is currently stored.

Cancelling

You can cancel at any time from your billing page. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you paid for, and you are not charged again. When it ends, or when you move to Free, nothing is deleted or archived that day. The Free plan's 60 days start on that day. If more than 5 GB is stored, new recordings pause until you are under 5 GB.

Refunds

If you are not happy with a paid plan, contact us within 14 days of your first payment for that plan and we will refund it in full. This covers the right of withdrawal that consumers have in the EU and the UK. Other payments, including partly used periods, are not refundable unless the law requires otherwise. Link may also refund a payment when you contact Link support about it.

Deleting your account

Deleting your account cancels any subscription immediately. Unused time is not refunded, apart from the 14-day refund above.

Free trials

A free trial of Pro does not need a card and ends on its own; nothing is charged when it ends, and the account moves to Free.

Invoices

Link issues the invoices in the name, address and tax ID you enter at checkout or later on link.com. They are also available on your billing page at any time.

7. Disclaimers and liability

The service is provided as is, without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent allowed by law, we're not liable for indirect or consequential damages, or for loss of content. Keep local copies of recordings that matter (the recorder keeps a local copy in your browser until you delete it).

8. Termination

You can delete your account (and everything it owns) at any time from Settings. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

9. Changes

We may update these terms; material changes will be announced on the site. Continued use after changes means you accept them.
