General

Do viewers need an account?

Not to watch or to reply to a request. Comments and reactions need a free account, except in an embedded player, where a name is enough.

Is there a watermark or a length limit?

No watermark on the video and no length limit, on the free plan too.

How long are videos kept?

On Free, 60 days. Then the video is archived, and deleted 30 days later unless you upgrade. Solo and Team keep videos for as long as you are subscribed.

Can I record without uploading anything?

Yes. Pick "This device only" and the recording never leaves your computer.

Does it work on Mac and Windows?

Yes, with a desktop app for each. Chrome and Edge have an extension, and the plain browser works with nothing installed.

Where are videos stored?

In private storage. Playback only happens through short-lived signed URLs, so links cannot be guessed or probed.

Recording

Do I need an account to record?

No. Recording in the browser works without one. Anonymous links last 24 hours and can be claimed by signing up.

Which browsers work?

The extension runs in Chrome and Edge. The browser recorder works in Firefox and Safari too, though there the camera bubble is not composited into the recording.

Can I keep a recording off the cloud?

Yes. Choose "This device only" and the recording stays on your computer.

Viewer insights

Can it identify anonymous viewers?

A viewer is identified when they open a per-recipient link, enter an email or are signed in. Otherwise they show as Someone, still with completion and rewatch data.

Do Slack previews count as views?

No. Unfurls, bots and your own plays are filtered out.

Yes. Create it once and attach it to any videos in your library.

Plans

What happens when my storage is full?

New recordings and uploads pause. Everything already stored keeps playing and no link breaks. We warn you at 80% and 95%. Free up space or add storage to continue.

How does extra storage work?

Solo starts at 100 GB and Team at 200 GB. Add 100 GB at a time for $10 a month, or $96 a year. On Team the storage is one pool for the whole workspace. You can add or remove units any time, as long as what you keep covers what is stored.

What happens if I downgrade or cancel?

Nothing is deleted or archived that day. The 60 days of Free start on the day you move to Free. If more than 5 GB is stored, new recordings pause until you are under 5 GB.

Are unlimited members really unlimited?

Yes. Team has no seat price and no member cap. Invite your whole company and the price stays the same. The only limit is the storage you pick.

When are Free videos archived?

60 days after they are recorded. An archived video stops playing for viewers. It is deleted 30 days later unless you upgrade, and comes back if you do.

Does fair use affect me?

Almost certainly not. It only covers misuse, like using record.so as a public video CDN, spam, or many Free accounts for one person. Recordings, members, viewers and requests are never limited by it.

What counts toward storage?

Every video and screenshot you keep, plus anything in the trash. Deleted items stay in the trash for 30 days and still count until you empty it. 100 GB is about 83 hours of 1080p video.
